WASHINGTON, D.C. -- The Navy tennis team cruised to its eighth win in 10 matches with a 7-0 decision over Georgetown on Sunday afternoon. Navy lost just one set in singles play and won the doubles point by winning all three doubles matches.

"I thought we played pretty well again on Sunday," said Navy head coach John Officer. "We won the points when we needed to in pressure situations. The match swung in about five minutes as our we won the doubles point thanks to some clutch performances."

Navy claimed the doubles point by taking all three matches. Brandon Carter and Nate Nelms won at No. 1 doubles, 8-6, while Stanley Kahl and Adrian Lai teamed up at No. 2 doubles to win by the same score. At No. 3, Alex James and Johnny Waters partnered for a 9-8 (5) victory.

Navy then cruised in singles play, winning all six matches and dropping just one set along the way. Nelms won 6-1, 1-0 (ret.) at No. 1 singles, Kahl cruised to a 6-2, 6-3, victory at No. 3 and Alex James rolled to a 6-1, 6-3, win at No. 6.

Navy will travel to Tobacco Road next weekend for a pair of matches against ACC foes North Carolina State and North Carolina.
