PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - Greg Sprink scored a career-high 34 points and tied a school record by hitting nine 3-point shots as Navy erased a 16-point second-half deficit for a 73-64 victory over Brown on Thursday night. Sprink went 10-of-15 from the field, including 9-of-11 from 3-point range, to tie the record for most 3-pointers made in a game set by Michael Burd on Nov. 26, 2000 against Mount St. Mary's. Matt Fannin added 18 points for the Midshipmen (4-5). Marcus Becker scored a career-high 20 points for the Bears (2-7) and Damon Huffman added 19. Huffman hit a 3-pointer with 13:09 to play to give the Bears their largest lead of the game, 48-32. Navy then went to a full-court press that sparked a 22-7 run. Sprink scored 14 during the rally, including four 3-pointers. Fannin completed a conventional 3-point play to give Navy its first lead of the second half 57-55 with 6:34 remaining. Brown tied the game on two more times, the last at 64-64 on a jump shot by Huffman. But Sprink countered with his eighth and ninth 3-pointers to give Navy a 70-64 lead with 43.3 seconds to play. Becker scored 15 points in the first half as Brown built a 31-23 halftime lead. The Bears were just 5-of-17 from the line in the game. |
