AP - Roy Hibbert scored a career-high 20 points and added seven rebounds, and Georgetown defeated Navy, 72-49, in the season opener for both teams.

Hibbert made eight of 11 shots from the field and also blocked four shots on defense as the Hoyas won the first meeting between the schools since 1978.

Also scoring in double figures for Georgetown were Jeff Green with 13 points, Ashanti Cook with 12 points and Darrel Owens with 10 points. Greg Sprink and Corey Johnson led Navy with 14 points each and Matt Fannin had a game-high eight rebounds as the Mids outrebounded Georgetown 36-33.

Navy, which at times had four freshmen on the floor, shot 28 percent (7-25) from the floor while the Hoyas made 48 percent (14 of 29) in the first half.
