ANNAPOLIS, Md. - Due to a scheduling conflict, the dates for Patriot League Baseball Championship best-of-three series between Navy (32-23-1) and Bucknell (24-22-2) in Annapolis this weekend have been changed. The two teams will play a single nine-inning game on Friday at 3 p.m., followed by a 12 noon nine-inning contest on Saturday. If the series is tied after game two, the Midshipmen and the Bison will play another nine-inning affair 30 minutes after the conclusion of Saturday's first game. Second-seeded Navy earned a spot in the Patriot League Championship series after taking two of three from third-seeded Holy Cross last weekend in Annapolis. Fourth-seeded Bucknell went up to top-seeded Army and won two of three from the Black Knights in West Point. The Midshipmen are looking to win their sixth Patriot League title and claim an automatic berth in the NCAA Tournament for the ninth time in school history. Navy owns an all-time record of 8-5 in Patriot League Tournament games held at Terwilliger Brothers Field at Max Bishop Stadium. Navy's last league title and trip to the NCAA Tournament came during the 2002 campaign, which is also the last time it had hosted a league tournament game before this weekend's series victory against Holy Cross. Live statistics for each of this weekend's games will be available via GameTracker on Navy's website, www.NavySports.com(.) |
