Assistant Athletic Director for Sport Performance

Mike Brass is in his sixth season as an Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Performance at the Naval Academy. Brass comes to Navy from Georgia Southern where he held the same position for three years.

While Georgia Southern football returned to the top perch of NCAA I-AA football during the last five years, many people around the program, including head coach Paul Johnson, credited Brass as one of the primary reasons for the success. Among his peers, he was named as the 1998 and '99 National Strength and Conditioning Association's (NSCA) Professional-of-the-Year for the Southern Conference. The award recognizes coaches who have demonstrated excellence in their respective strength and conditioning programs.

As Georgia Southern's Assistant Athletic Director for Athletic Performance, Brass provided a direct strength training leadership role to the Eagle football program while coordinating off-season and in-season weight training programs for the remaining 14 Georgia Southern teams.

Prior to his appointment at Georgia Southern, Brass served as head strength and conditioning coach at Tulane from 1992-96. He also spent three seasons heading the strength and conditioning efforts at Dartmouth (1990-92) after earning his first position at Wisconsin-Whitewater as strength coach in 1985.

Brass was a two-sport standout at Gering (Neb.) High School, earning letters in football and track. He earned his bachelor's degree in Education from Doane (Neb.) College in 1985 before acquiring a master's in Fitness Management from the United States Sports Academy one year later.

Brass holds membership in the National Strength and Conditioning Association and is nationally certified as a Strength and Conditioning Specialist and as a Speed and Explosion Expert.

Brass and wife Cindi are the parents of three children -- Samantha, Danielle and Broderick.


Director of Strength and Conditioning and Operations

Kirk Woolfolk is in his tenth season as the director of strength and conditioning and operations at the Naval Academy. Woolfolk came to Navy from Notre Dame, where he served as the Strength and Conditioning Coordinator for three years. Previously, he was the strength and conditioning coach at Southwest Missouri State.

Woolfolk graduated from Arkansas in 1980 with a degree in industrial drafting, and he earned a master's degree from Arkansas in 1990 in sports management, with an emphasis in exercise science. Woolfolk was a three-year letterman as a defensive back for the Razorbacks and played on four bowl teams and one Southwest Conference Championship team.

Born July 4, 1958, the Protection, Kan. Native spent two years as a graduate assistant strength coach at Arkansas before moving on to Southwest Missouri State. He has been a clinician at two Arkansas state conventions of the National Strength and Conditioning Association. Woolfolk, who has been certified as a Strength and Conditioning Specialist by the National Strength and Conditioning Association, won the Kansas state masters weightlifting meet in 1993 and placed third at the national masters meet in 1994.

A four-year letterman at Protection High School, Woolfolk won 11 varsity letters in football, basketball, track and golf, earned all-state honors in football as a junior and as a senior.

Kirk and his wife, Renee, live in Annapolis and have five children -- Adam, Nolan, Haley, Natalie, and Clay.


Director of Olympic Sports Performance

Cliff Dooman is in his eighth season as a member of the strength and conditioning department at the U.S. Naval Academy. Dooman has been certified as a Strength and Conditioning Specialist by the National Strength and Conditioning Association, as well as a Certified Senior Coach by USA Weightlifting.

Dooman came to Navy from The Ohio State University where he served as an assistant strength and conditioning coach from 1998-2000. He also has worked at the United States Olympic Training Center and the University of Hartford. He graduated from Springfield College in 1995 with a bachelor's of science degree in exercise science and from Dayton with a master's of science degree in exercise science/education.

He was born May 27, 1972, in Bolton, Conn., and now resides in Annapolis with his wife, Shannon.


Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach

Rett Warren is in his eighth season in the strength and conditioning department at the Naval Academy. Warren has been certified as a Strength and Conditioning Specialist by the National Strength and Conditioning Association, a certified Level I Coach by the United States Weightlifting Federation, and a certified Level I USA Track and Field Coach.

Warren came to Navy from the University of Maryland where he served as an assistant strength and conditioning coach. Warren has also worked at UCLA, the College of William and Mary, the University of Pennsylvania, the University of South Florida and with the Baltimore Ravens.

Warren graduated from Salisbury State in 1995 with a bachelor's of science degree in health. Born December, 2 1970, in Washington D.C., he now lives in Laurel, Md.


Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach

Justin Livezey enters his fourth season as a member of the strength and conditioning staff at the U.S. Naval Academy. He arrives in Annapolis after spending two years as the strength and conditioning coach at Siena.

After graduating from West Chester (Pa.) with a degree in health and fitness (kinesiology), he served an internship with the strength and conditioning staff of the NFL's Tampa Bay Buccaneers. After the one-year internship concluded in January of 2000, Livezey was named as the head strength and conditioning coach for the St. Petersburg Devil Rays, the minor league "A" affiliate for baseball's Tampa Bay Devil Rays.

In the fall of 2000, Livezey accepted a position with the strength and conditioning staff at Villanova where he served as the primary strength coach for baseball, field hockey, women's soccer and women's volleyball, in addition to assisting with Villanova's remaining 18 varsity sports.

He remained at Villanova for two years until accepting his most recent position at Siena.
