Ask the AD -- Parking

Q: I am not a graduate of the Academy, just a loyal fan. I attended my first Navy game in 1954, when I was 7 years old, and have had season tickets myself since my son was 7, and he is now 32. You can probably count me among your most loyal fans. I am looking forward to another great year of Navy football. However, I have one concern. One of the most enjoyable parts of the day is tailgating with friends before and after the game. Unfortunately, we all do not arrive at the parking lot at the same time. We were told by a parking attendant this past year that cars were going to be directed into certain areas upon arrival. We usually meet our friends in the same area, and if we are not able to do so, some of the enjoyment will be taken out of the day. I sincerely hope things stay as they were. - asked by: Vernon Smith -

A: My suggestion is to team up with your friends and try and travel to the stadium by mid-morning. We have taken some steps to try and better organize traffic flow and parking. The past situation was not acceptable, and in the spirit of a better "visit" for the masses, we will make adjustments. Thanks for your thoughts.

Q: I'm not happy with having to spend $18 for a single game parking pass. Ten dollars sounds reasonable, but then you find out that there is a $2 fee, maybe also reasonable, to handle and mail, and a $6 order charge, which boosts the price to park a car completely out of line. Do we think this is Yankee Stadium? Also, it's been impossible to get an answer on 800-US4-NAVY as directed in emails I have received from the NAAA. I hope that is a sign of lots of business and not too few people. - asked by: Charles Gates -

A: Charles, we distributed close to 4500 parking passes for each game, and this is the first complaint I've had with regard to cost. So, therefore, there might have been a mistake made with your order. I'll look into it and see what the problem is. Keep in mind if you ordered "on line," there would be an extra cost involved.
