Ask the AD -- Blue & Gold Club

Q: I have been a USNAAA member since 1985 and recently received the Blue & Gold Brochure that announced this program name would replace the USNAAA Membership. Please clarify four things for me: a.) The inside back page includes a Membership Application Form. Does this preclude the renewal form or will one still be forthcoming? b.) The levels of membership show a fee range rather than a set fee for each category. This is confusing in that if one member pays the minimum and another pays anywhere above the minimum to the maximum in the same category, what is the difference in benefits (better seats, larger amount of donation, etc.)? c.)What is the renewal date for membership and how does that occur? In the beginning, a renewal notice was sent in January and recently, June; and d.) The new fees represent a sizeable increase. Will that money be allocated to the various sports programs or a portion to administration as well?

Thank you, and keep up the good work! - asked by: Charles Wyckoff -

A: Don't be confused by the Blue & Gold program because it's exactly the same in design and spirit as was the case with NAAA Membership. We tweaked some of the benefits to a degree and gave people the opportunity to commit specifically to sports of interest. But, for the most part, it's the same package. If you read the brochure carefully, it's very self-explanatory and straight forward. We have 6,500 members of the NAAA who donate to support our midshipmen, and those 6,500 simply became members of the Blue & Gold; a name change being the only real significant modification to what's been in existence for over 113 years.
